My new favorite quote on leadership is from this article about Satya Nadella and a changing Microsoft.
“Hey, look, you’re in a field of shit, and your job is to be able to find the rose petals,’ as opposed to saying, ‘Oh, I’m in a field of shit,’ ” he says. “C’mon! You’re a leader. That’s what it is. You can’t complain about constraints. We live in a constrained world.”
I’ve been back at the company for about 18 months now, draining swamps and flower buds are beginning to appear. Absolutely the right decision for me to return and consider myself lucky to be a part of this chapter of a new Microsoft. I could not be more proud of my team and the work we are doing with our customers. 😊
