Friday morning, around 7 am, Lauri noticed a little hummingbird in our backyard, trying to get something out of the globe lights around our umbrella. Interesting.
Around 7 am this morning, the hummingbird was back, only this time it was sticking its long beak into the orange bell shaped blossoms on our Thompson Maple tree that we had planted when my folks were in town. She had looked up online what to put in the feeders, and boiled some water, let it cool down and added the sugar. Then her and Josie took off after breakfast to hunt for a feeder.
After we hung the clear glass globe in the tree it probably took all of 20 minutes and not one, but three hummingbirds were circling the backyard, taking turns using their new feeder. They’ve been showing up every 20 minutes or so all day to feed and sit in the trees and take a rain bath ever since
Since they were showing up like clockwork, she took the video camera and steadied it on the back of a chair and waited and we got some decent shots of one of them.
In between, Josie spotted two young bucks in our cul de sac, just mosying around – wish we’d had the camera upstairs for those pics.
