  • I think I know where Dave is headed with his new categorization system, or at least this is where I hope he is headed.

What if all Weblog entries had religous use of categories like Dave’s has been applying to his posts since inception?

First off its not realistic to think everyone will change their ways and become the masters of categories. Also what I think might be a story about home improvement to another person could be about modern art. To make this happen we need to involve the Weblog community to categorize the Weblog world.

Here’s one way to do it:

Imagine if the aggregator author’s incorporated randomn peer privilege into their products like Slashdot.org has. But with one big difference. Instead of giving people the ability to moderate a post up or down people, it could be used to apply categories to the posts. This category data would be rolled back up to an impartial set of servers, distributed via P2P and back to the originating weblog. This would give us an open directory for browsing weblogs.

I spend way too much time scouting Google for Weblog posts for topics that I am interested in. A distributed system like this with items tagged by the community in an open hierarchy would be really amazing.

This sort of reminds me of the good old days of the web when Yahoo was so awesome because it had humans building their index.

So is this what Dave is up to?

  • 2 1/3 cups Bisquick baking mix

    • 2 tablespoons dark brown sugar, firmly packed <o:p>
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon <o:p>
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg <o:p>
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger <o:p>
    • 1 1/4 cups milk <o:p>
    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten <o:p>
    • 1/3 cup mashed pumpkin <o:p>
    • 1/4 cup vegetable oil <o:p>

Beat all ingredients with whisk or hand beater until well blended. Pour batter by scant 1/4 cupfuls onto hot, lightly greased griddle or skillet. Cook until tops are bubbly and edges are dry. Turn and cook pumpkin pancakes until golden brown.

Makes about 15 to 18 pumpkin pancakes

  • As a Rider fan I can’t count how many times I’ve said, well, maybe next year. This is unfortunately one of those years. The team really got it all together in the second half, but that was not enough leaving the final score 30 – 23 with Edmonton winning. I’m bummed, but I still love these guys!

  • Something new from the folks at Google. Search Google without leaving your desktop with the Google Desk Bar. This is interesting, it does a nifty little popup window with the results. Let’s see if it as useful as the Google Explorer Bar which is awesome at popup blocking.

  • McCurry Anyone?

This is cool. Why can’t they bring this to the United States?

You know I hate to admit it, but I’ve been eating more than my fair share of fast food lately and I am so tired of it. I want Mc Curry!

Check out the menu at McDonald’s of India, it looks great for fast food.

    Has anyone tried this?

  • PDC is only 25 days a way and I can’t wait to see you all. Although it pales in comparison to the entries of the recent cool wallpaper desktop contest, here is a PDC 2003 inspired wallpaper. I believe this is the wallpaper that will be used on the CommNET machines…

  • Yes! Dave announced today that Jake has released trackback for Radio. Very cool, let’s see if this works. I wonder if Dave’s visit to California helped get this implemented or if it was just a coincidence. Time watch and see who implements it on their Weblogs.

  • Recipe Time!

My mom tuned me into this recipe last time she was down visiting and I had to share. Sorry, but I don’t know who to credit this recipe to, but it is quick, fun and tastey. I did some Google Recipe hunting this morning and found the precise ingredients, even better they had the key ingredient at Safeway.

Let me know if you try it.
    **
    Skor Toffee Squares**
1 – Package of SKOR bar chips (made by ChipIts)
1 – Box of Ritz Crackers, crushed
1 – Can of Sweetened Condensed Milk

Crush Ritz crackers with rolling pin (if you leave them in the bag it is less messy). Add the can of milk, and all but 1/4 cup of the SKOR ChipIts. Mix all ingredients and press into an 8×8 well greased pan.

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes, sprinkle the remaining ChipIts, let it cool and enjoy!

I love using Google to hunt for recipes.
