Happy Birthday Kevin. It’s time to share a memory from our very, very brief conversation in a hotel lobby bar seven years ago today.
One 🇨🇦 to another 🇨🇦
He knew I’d been at Microsoft for a long time, was talking to Twitter and would be wrestling with a decision.
He encouraged me to make the move, “You’ve worked at one of the greatest companies in the world Microsoft.” “Go! Work your ass off at Twitter and learn. Grow a business and see what’s its like to go pre-ipo to ipo.”
I went, worked my ass off and learned.
I grew as a leader, a dad and a family.
I failed a lot too. Our family changed too. Mostly good, but we broke some things too.
That’s how you grow.
I made some the deepest and supportive friendships due to my time in San Francisco.
That’s probably the biggest gift here.
So thanks Mr Wonderful for the nudge and to everyone who helps me get from here to there.
Years later, I’m still back at Microsoft working my ass off and learning. I’ll be here for quite awhile as there is lots to do and I have lots to learn.
